John was born in Overland Park, Kansas and grew up in the Pacific NW. He graduated from David Douglas High School and Concordia University in Portland, before settling in Vancouver. Like so many, he was drawn to Vancouver because of the opportunity it provided for his family. He and his wife purchased their home in East Vancouver specifically because of its proximity to Fir Garden Park.
John has been a residential real estate broker for 10 years. During that time he has helped dozens of families find homes in all parts of Vancouver, so he knows this city and understands its neighborhoods. He has been actively involved with the local and state association of REALTORS, serving as President of the Clark County Association of REALTORs in 2016 and is currently the Treasurer of the Washington Association of REALTORs.
He has also been actively involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for Columbia River Mental Health Services from 2014 to 2016. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Washington and The Historic Trust.
John has also been deeply engaged with local government, first serving as a Planning Commission for Clark County and then as Clark County Councilor. In that role, he also served on the Board for C-Tran, the Southwest Washington Area Agency on Aging and Disability, and the Council for the Homeless. As a County Councilor, he worked closely with members of the Vancouver City Council to establish the new Executive Committee on Homelessness intended to better coordinate the county and city's response to the homeless crisis facing our community.
When he's not working, John enjoys exercising and spending time with his wife and two children (Elizabeth and Isaac).
